Good Naked (New York NY) is pleased to present GRAZING IN THE GRASS, a 3-person exhibition opening Wednesday, May 10th from 4-8pm.
These three artists engage landscape with fascination, pleasure, and play. Pearl Cowan’s paintings present mystery and escape as they render botanical forms with precision and build portals to other worlds with geometry and negative space. Cowan’s canvases pull us into a vortex of close looking and spiritual grazing. Barry Hazard’s paintings use heavy relief as their base for building 3D picture windows. Hazard combines landscape sources in his creation of fictional spaces. His miniature renderings encourage transport and daydream. Lesley Wamsley’s plein-air paintings reflect her personal response to nature in real time. Her palette is specific to each hour passing as light moves through and across the surface of her compositions. All three artists offer entry into a re-engagement with landscape, much welcomed as we re-evaluate our sense of time and desire for connection to the natural world.
“Sure is mellow grazin' in the grass
What a trip just watchin' as the world goes past
There are too many groovy things to see while grazin' in the grass
Flowers with colours for takin', everything outta sight
The sun peekin' out between the leaves
Grazin' in the grass, yes, baby, can you dig it?”
