Good Naked (New York NY) is pleased to present ODD ANGLES, a group exhibition of works by Peggy Ahwesh, Afruz Amighi, Natalie Beall, Jesse Bransford, Grayson Cox, Max Razdow, Alexander Ross, Keith Sanborn, and Kiki Smith. The exhibition will open in Catskill NY on Saturday, July 23rd from 12-6pm in conjunction with Upstate Art Weekend.
ODD ANGLES will be housed in The Catskill Octagon, an octagonal house built in 1860 by David Van Gelder. Works will be installed in dialogue with the Octagon’s interiors and surrounding property.
Octagons are strange shapes, steeped in the geometries of life, and prone to magical turns of thought. A house from an octagon is a stranger thing still. Less home and a bit more temple. Art sits well in these odd spaces, and the gentle turn away from the square puts a person in a state of altered awareness. Space becomes new, curious, and artwork that looks to space like this vibrates in a particular way. You can feel it. Right?
ODD ANGLES artists embrace these uneven corners. Their works take up utilitarian facades and turn functions on end. Their objects brush against structure with lightness and curiosity. Come watch their interactions wake and take comfort in this Octagon’s gravity.
