Good Naked (Cragsmoor NY) is pleased to present LAWN MONUMENTS, a group exhibition open Saturday and Sunday, July 20th and 21st from 12-6pm.

Logistics create sculptural boundaries. Non-site-specific sculpture often has a foreign ornamental feel that challenges the site. Still, the monumental is possible. This will mark the 2nd iteration of Lawn Monuments, bringing artists and their (varying degrees of) portable sculpture together for a two-day exhibition presented at The Clearing - an outdoor exhibition space located on the property of Grayson Cox and Hollis Witherspoon in the historic town of Cragsmoor, NY.

Each work challenges monumentality and drifts in and out of the kitschiness of lawn ornamentation. Works will all be brought by the artist and placed within the context of the woods, in the clearing or along the trails. The constraints of the exhibition require that the sculptures be somewhat portable, but the works also approach the monumental. Sculptors are problem solvers. This exhibition celebrates their solutions.
 

UPSTATE ART WEEKEND (UPAW) is a connective annual event, for residents and tourists alike, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York. The fifth edition of UPAW will take place Thursday, July 18, through Sunday, July 21, 2024, spanning ten counties in the Catskills Mountains and Hudson Valley. UPAW launched in 2020 with 23 participants, expanding to over 145 this year, welcoming thousands of visitors to the region. The participants are comprised of local arts organizations, galleries, museums, residencies and creative projects, mixed with temporary exhibitions and events staged especially for UPAW.
